Challenge Project 9- Audio #1: Using a Shotgun Mic

Goal:              To practice using a shotgun mic and learn its strengths & weaknesses.

Objective 1:   Set up a conversation where your actor is talking on the phone; use a full-body shot of the person.  Use a shotgun mic on a gaff to get good audio.  (15-20 seconds)

Objective 2:   Set up a conversation between two people outside near traffic.  Shoot it in a two-shot [i.e., waist up for both] and use the onboard mic to get the ambient sound of the passing vehicles.  (15-20 seconds)

Objective 3:   Like #2, except with a shotgun mic to minimize ambient sound.  Set up a conversation between two people outside near traffic (same place as #2).  Shoot it in a two-shot [i.e., waist up for both] and use the shotgun mic to minimize the ambient sound of the passing vehicles.  (15-20 seconds)

Objective 4:   In a big, wide area (indoor or out), see how wide a shot you can get while still getting good sound using the shotgun mic.  Use either two actors in conversation or one on the phone.  Keep the mic out of the shot, of course! (hint: you?ll be limited by the length of cable we have) 15-25 seconds

Extra Credit: Make them all interesting: add a mini-story...add dialogue...add other elements (but do not change the requirements), etc.
