Challenge Project 6 - Camera Work #3: Panning Smoothly

Goal:              To follow subjects that move horizontally, with variations.

Objective 1:   Standard pan.  Set up the camera on a tripod.  Start with a static shot without the actor; have an actor enter the screen walking (in a straight line) from the left; when she reaches mid-frame, begin to pan with her.  Follow her as she walks away.  Do not zoom in or out. (5-10 seconds)

Objective 2:   Same as #1, except in reverse: have the subject (actor) start in the frame, then walk off to the left and have the camera pan with the subject.  Do not zoom in or out. (5-10 seconds)

Objective 3:   Pan to follow in depth.  Set up the camera on a tripod so that it looks into a distance of at least 25'.  Have an actor start 25' away and walk almost straight toward the camera then continue past the camera (in a straight line).  Pan the camera with the actor; do not zoom. (15-20 seconds)

Objective 4:   Pan while zooming. Start with static tripod shot, w/o actor. Have the actor enter from one side; the shot should show him from waist to top of head (with no head space above him).  Then when he reaches the middle of the frame (roughly) have the camera pan with him, but this time zoom the lens and  keep the subject in the frame from waist to top of head as he recedes into the distance. (10-15 seconds)

Extra Credit: Make them all interesting: add a mini-story...add dialogue...add other elements (but do not change the requirements), etc.
