Delhi's Backround

Who Established it and When
The ruler who had the biggest effect on Delhi was a warrior-sultan named Zahiruddin Muhammad Babur (also spelled Babar), who was known by his enemies and admirers alike as "The Leopard". It is said that Babur was born into a warring family, in fact, he was descended from Genghis Khan on his mother's side, and Tamerlane on his father's side. Babur was a great soldier, and overtook Delhi in 1525 from Ibrahim Lodi, the ruler at the time. Although Babur's army was smaller than Lodi's, he and his troops were able to send the other side into total panic with their cannons, which were a weapon not yet known of in that area. Babur, and his sons and grandsons after him, established Delhi into a thriving metropolis. (1.)
