Religion in Constantinople
When Constantinople was founded, its purpose was to serve as the new capital of the Roman Empire. Constantinople has been Christian with Roman and Greek influences forever. But with many changes in the past few centuries, our religion has changed as well. Many mosques have replaced the churches, and a Middle Eastern view on religion has changed the people. Islamic influences have taken over this area, and we are all Muslims (1).
We have many beautiful mosques and places of worship where people go to pray. They include the Hagia Sophia and The Blue Mosque. Religion is ver important to our people, and we pray a lot. Religion affects a lot of our everyday life including the way we dress and we live (2).
