In 1526 the Mughals, who were from Turkey, invaded India and surrounding areas. They wanted wealth, power and a chance to convert Hindus to Islam. For 300 years the Mughals controled what is now India and Pakistan. They shaped the religion, politcal and economic systems, as well as everyday life. The Mughals brought new religion, new styles of art, new ambitions towards architecture and an overall different culture. At the fall of the Mughal dynasty, in the late 1700's, the Bristish then took control of Inida; however, Mughal influence can still be seen in the present day.
