Essay Choices (35 Points)
Two of these essay questions will show up on your exam, and you will be required to answer ONE of the questions.
- Why is it important to recognize different perspectives in history? Choose one major event or movement in the late19th or 20th century and examine that event from three different perspectives.
- Karl Marx wrote in The Communist Manifesto (1848), “The history of all hitherto existing society is the history of class struggle.” How are economic conflicts responsible for driving major historical changes in the 20th century?
- Discuss the significance of nationalism in shaping world events of the 20th century. Your response should include analysis regarding the consequences of extreme nationalism as well as a lack of nationalism.
- Choose three major challenges facing the world today and discuss how these challenges relate to an historical theme we have studied this year. Your examples should be from different regions of the world.
