The usage of wood, and other raw materials found in forests, has been around since the existence of men. However, we have recently labeled it with the more serious name, deforestation. This act of cutting down or clearing out trees has proved to be very beneficial in the past for both man and economy. Early American's praised their newly found land for its lush forests and the opportunity that its materials could bring. Today, 95% of America's forest are gone. They have suffered from the growing population and the demand that economy has placed upon them. So the next step would turn to another source of materials such as plastic or another source of lubber from a different area. All eyes are now on the Amazon rainforest. Being the largest in the world and lying mostly in developing countries has allowed for its materials to be exploited. The US and UK are the leading importers for that region, but when should the line be drawn.
