Ethical Issues
Ms. Portman
Let's put theory into practice. You will be given a broad list of suggested ethical dilemmas facing our society today. Choose one issue to focus on for your final project. You should check the website (http://sun.menloschool.org/~sportman/ethics) to find out what topics were covered in past years because these topics may not be repeated. You may also speak to me about working on an issue not listed. Each person in the class will focus on a different topic, so you will need to rank your top three choices and I will give out a final list in a few days.
The format of your project has three parts.
1. Research-You will be expected to utilize a variety of
sources- articles, books, journals, websites.
2. The Website- You will be required to create a website based on your findings. We'll have a technical workshop and further explanation as we move through the project. You will need to write a paragraph introduction to you topic on you homepage. The text for each the pro and con side must be 2 pages. Your text should include a strong argument as to why that side is correct. Images (2) should be included in your text section. You should also use footnotes by citing your sources underneath your text.
3. Oral Presentation- You will make a short presentation
of your website to the class during the last week of the semester.
The presentation should be a maximum of twelve minutes. You will
be graded on content as well as effective speaking/presentation
style.
