It presents data from both primary research sources such as government census reports, statistical sampling surveys and organizational reporting, as well as citations from secondary literature which mention adherent statistics."

American Religion Data Archive:

Funded by the Lilly Endowment, Inc., this website offers data on American religion, including churches, church membership, and clergy. According to to the homepage, it seeks to "improve access to this data, to increase the use of the data, and to allow comparisons across data files."

This website abounds with quizzes, surveys, and polls you can take yourself to discover where you fit in the panoply of world religions.
