By Allen Reed

Alphonse Capone also known as Al Capone or Scarface was born 1899 in Brooklyn, New York. He had eight siblings. Both of his parent were immigrants from Italy, but Capone was a proud American and often said "I'm no Italian. I was born in Brooklyn." He Died at the age of fifty-eight, 1947, in Florida just after getting out of jail. I see Capone as a representative American, because manay boys looked up to him, it was cool to be a gangster and he represented all of the street gangsters an organized crime thay took place in the 1920's.

Al Capone is a representative American of the 1920's. He was a notorious gangster he was known for being pugnacious, strong and a tough thug. He had large scar from his mouth across his face to his ear from a bloody knife fight, the scar from this wound gave him the well-known and hated nickname, Scarface. Most historians consider him the symbol of prohibition, because her totally did not obey the Temperance act and illegally smuggled liquor with high alcohol levels. In sixth grade he dropped out of school to join the Five Pointers a well-known street gang. When Johnny Torio one of the gang leaders moved t Chicago Capone moved with him after being suspected of two murders in New York, to be a bouncer and thug.
