TOPICS RELATED TO THE VITALITY OF THE SAN FRANCISCO BAYLANDS

Our 6th grade's investigation of the San Francisco Baylands will focus on eight topic areas. Each group of three students (24 groups total) will address similar categories (see guidelines) under each topic. Three groups of three will be working on the same topic and may share ideas during the ideas and research stage, but will decide how to present their infomation separately and present at separate times.

1) Endangered species in the Baylands ecosystem

2) Invasive and non-native species in the Baylands ecosystem

3) Where has all the water gone? Watersheds and the Baylands

4) Birds and the Baylands– shorebirds and migratory birds

5) Salt Ponds

6) Where can we play? Recreation and the Baylands

7) Give a hoot don’t Pollute! Issue of pollution and the Baylands including: Point and Non-Point Pollution

8) As we grow, where do we go? Issues of urbanization and the Baylands
