Local Fauna Photo Gallery

Here are photos of some of the mammals and birds we commonly saw on our daily trap checks through the forest. Some were pretty tough to shoot, so I've included some photos from books.

 Cocquerel's Sifaka

This group of sifakas is often found hanging around the campsite at Ampijeroa. They're diurnal and so were relatively easy to spot.

 Milne-Edwards Sportive Lemur

These guys are nocturnal and are often found in hollow trees. We thought they looked like little Yodas.

 Mouse Lemur

This mouse lemur is being handled by a German researcher at Ampijeroa research station. He'll be fitted with a teeny reflective collar so he can be identified at night.
